About Rob Rowen
Rob Rowen is the President and Executive Director of Global Action Coalition, an NGO working in Nepal, India, Albania, and Djibouti. In 2009, Global Action Coalition launched education projects in Nepal and has continued to support women and children in 4 countries.
After being the Chair of the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Rob founded the Military Affairs Committee to support the 6th Air Mobility Wing and the various military commands based at MacDill Air Force Base
As a Navy League of Tampa Board Member, he was involved in the commissioning of USS Lassen DDG82 and USS Bulkeley, DDG84, whose first Commander was Carlos Del Toro, later Secretary of the Navy. In 2002, he became involved with the International Military Coalition at CENTCOM. Over the years he has known generations of officers who have served from over 65 nations.
In November 2019, he was invited to Strasbourg University in France to give a Keynote Address at their Castle Talks Conference on Healing the Scars of History using Diplomacy, Development, and Defense.
As Chair of the World Affairs Council of the Upstate he founded the Global Upstate World Conference at Furman University, followed by the Innovation and Solutions World Conference in Greer. This was his dream: to bring together international business and foreign affairs leaders to discuss the global issues they faced.
In 1981, Rob started Nuance Galleries, a fine art gallery in Tampa and St. Petersburg, Florida. Nuance is known for its 300 piece Cuban art collection. The collection traveled the United States from 2003-2007, visiting museums and universities in 14 cities, organized by Meridian International. Rob still showcases the collection with a recent exhibition at Furman University.
